KEVIN WELCH
UK Tour · October 2010
Kevin Welch makes a long-awaited solo return to the UK & Ireland in October for a run of dates in support of his new album A Patch Of Blue Sky, which was released to widespread acclaim in July.
A Patch of Blue Sky is Kevin Welch’s first solo record since 2001's Millionaire. Featuring 10 new songs, all written or co-written by Kevin, the album is an ultimately hopeful journey from darkness to dawn.
Kevin Welch grew up in Oklahoma. He had already toured as a teenager with several bands before he moved to Nashville in 1978 to work as a songwriter. Singers like Solomon Burke, Waylon Jennings, Johnny Cash, Garth Brooks, Trisha Yearwood and Linda Ronstadt were using his material. At the same time he was very active in local clubs, performing with John Scott Sherrill and the Wolves In Cheap Clothing, The Roosters, and finally his own band - The Overtones. His popularity grew and in 1988 he signed a record contract with Warner Brothers. In 1990 the album Kevin Welch was recorded and 2 years later Western Beat. Both albums received rave reviews.
In 2004 Welch teamed up with fellow Dead Reckoning artists Kieran Kane and Fats Kaplin to produce You Can't Save Everybody. The trio followed this up with Lost John Dean in 2006, to general acclaim. Lost John Dean reached number one on the Americana charts, gaining nominations for several awards including Duo/Group of the year at the 2006 Americana Honors and Awards. The following eponymous Kane Welch Kaplin, with the addition of Lucas Kane, was also nominated for Duo/Group. The group travelled to Australia 10 times, as well as Europe and the UK, Canada, and all over the United States.
In the spring of 2008 Welch left Nashville for the hills outside of Austin Texas. In early 2010 he then joined with friends and colleagues Jimmy LaFave, Sam Baker, Slaid Cleaves and John Fullbright at the start-up (and up-start) label Music Road Records, and self-produced his first solo record in 8 years, A Patch Of Blue Sky

Blue Rodeo
UK/Ireland Tour · September-October 2010
The definition of a rebel is someone who goes against the grain. For over twenty five years, Blue Rodeo has taken the road less travelled - and succeeded far beyond anyone’s expectations. The band emerged in the early 80’s as a countrified rock band in the era of hair metal and glossy pop. Despite sticking out like a sore thumb (or maybe because of it), their single “Try” became omnipresent on radio across Canada and set in motion a three decade long career of headlining every club, theatre and arena in the country. In 1993, when grunge rock was squeezing commercial rock off the radio, they recorded their most acoustic album, Five Days In July, and scored their biggest hit, selling over a half million copies of that one record alone. And now, in the digital age, while everyone else is thinking of ways to sell single songs through the Internet or snippets of songs on cell phones, Blue Rodeo has recorded The Things We Left Behind, a double album designed to be enjoyed on vinyl. Twelve albums in, the rebels live on!
- Blue Rodeo is among the most accomplished groups Canada has produced. The band has won 12 Juno Awards, including a record breaking 5 Group of the Year Junos. Blue Rodeo won the 2008 Juno for Best Group, Best Adult Alternative Album & Best Video and received a Star on Canada’s Walk of Fame in 2009.
- Blue Rodeo, led by songwriter/vocalist/guitarist combo Greg Keelor and Jim Cuddy, has amassed over 4 million sales worldwide, and every record in its 25 year recording history has gone Platinum in Canada.
- Blue Rodeo were invited to perform 3 times during the 2010 Winter Olympics.
- Blue Rodeo’s current The Things We Left Behind tour included more than 50 Canadian dates and the album has been charting in the Top 200 since its release in November. In the United States the album charted Top 20 at Americana Radio for 10 weeks.
“The range of emotion and styles on this sprawling but not sloppy double disc effort make it the best music Blue Rodeo has put out in years. It is at times massive and monumental, at others painfully intimate.” Now Toronto
“(Blue Rodeo) have made a completely cohesive double album that would be all the poorer if just one track had been left off.” Maverick ****
“…epic in the truest sense of the word. Blue Rodeo have delivered the ultimate in retro ideas, a double album that begs to be heard in its entirety.”

About James Keelaghan:
It was Dave Marsh, the award-winning American music critic and historian who not so long ago stated that James Keelaghan is “Canada’s finest songwriter.” Those few but powerful words of praise say it all about an artist who continues to set the bar at a lofty height. James Keelaghan is an artist who has proven to be a man for all seasons. As the calendar pages have turned, for almost a quarter of a century now, this poet of the folk and roots music world has gone about his work with a combination of passion, curiosity intent and intensity. His masterful story telling has, over the course of nine recordings, been part of the bedrock of his success, earning Keelaghan nominations and awards - including a Juno (Canada's Grammy) - and acclaim from Australia to Scandinavia.
